This page includes links to the reports detailing my independent research that was undertaken under the guidance of Dr. Arlen Viste during the 2002 Interim and Spring Semesters at Augustana College.
The research focused on the question of molecular modeling and molecular chemistry and whether or not one could determine the pharmacological effect of a pharmaceutical based upon its molecular interactions. This stemmed from the question as to the reason why the American Heart Association changed its Advanced Cardiac Life Support algorithm for Ventricular Fibrillation/Pulseless Ventricular Tachycardia during its 2000 Revision. It replaced Lidocaine with Amiodarone as the first-line pharmaceutical for refractory ventricular fibrillation.
